Daughterhood

Originally commissioned as a 5-minute play, entitled The Other Half, by Horizon Theatre Company for the 2024 New South Young Playwrights Festival.

It is June in the year 2000, and a beloved middle school orchestra teacher has died. Brought together in the wake of his untimely death are his two daughters, Joanie and Mariana. There’s only one problem: neither one knew the other existed until now. In an attempt to reckon with their inherited estrangement, the two half-sisters discover that despite years of secrecy, there may be a happier future waiting for them.
